What we have all been waiting for. The Super Bowl, what every fan has been waiting for. Let's face it many non-football fans been waiting for this as well. Either to watch the commercials or to just get football off the television every Sunday. I'm so happy yet sad all at the same time. After this game the only thing to look forward to if you're a football fan is the draft, luckily for me, I have basketball for a few more months.
Let's get into what is imperative. Many people called the Patriots as a favorite to go to the Super Bowl, and many have been all over the place with the NFC. I know myself I called the Seahawks, Cowboys, Giants, and even Packers favorites to go (what was I thinking right). I didn't even reflect on the Falcons in the Super Bowl until the NFC Championship game. Now shockingly I will predict that Atlanta will hang their first banner. Coach Dan Quinn has a defense almost as good as he had when he was D-Coordinator in Seattle. As history will show Defense wins championships, but Atlanta isn't just defense, their O has looked great as well. They appear to be a very balanced squad, and they'll look for Beasley to put pressure on TB12. However, Tom Brady is one of the best in the game EVER, and if anyone can do it, he most certainly can. You know he wants his 5th ring and to put an end to the best QB ever conversation. I can't wait to see who becomes the victors.
* Side note put the score you think it'll be in the case of a tie. You can not choose the same point spread as anyone else. Then put the points you wish to bet in ()
My predictions-
Atlanta 28 over New England 24 (448)
Leaders Board
Jordan-668
Nate- 484
Kevin-480
Johnse-31
Samantha-7
This is Jordan...
ReplyDeleteAh, the prized final entry of the year. New England or Atlanta? Should be a shootout either way, and I don't think I've looked forward to a matchup as much as I have this one in the last 5 years. Two teams, virtual dead lock on paper. Matty Ice and his bird crew have looked every bit the unstoppable force throughout the post season and much of the regular season. But then you have the immovable object, the team who's always seemingly right there, and their 4-time champion veteren QB trying to etch his name as the best ever. Wow! So great.
For my game picks, Bill Belichick is a master at taking the opponents best player out of the game. Which will be Julio Jones. With 2 weeks to prepare, I think Jones' impact will be as minimized as possible. You can't shut him down, but you can contain him. But that Atlanta backfield is the difference to me. We've not seen dominance out of two backs in the same backfield like this in recent memory. Coleman and Freeman can both go for 200 yards in a game and it wouldn't be a surprise.
On the other side, the wiley veteren Brady will be looking to unlock a defensive unit that has very silently put up some of the best defensive numbers ever. How do you defend Brady, because with time, he'll pick you to pieces and if you man his WR up, his accuracy is impeccable. That said, I believe ATL is up to the task. How do you beat Brady? You have him looking through his earhole by the end of the game. You get up in his zone. And ATL has 2 DE that will be able to do just that.
My pick is Atlanta - not an easy one. But I feel the right one. Ludacris will be proud after this one.
ATL 31- NE 23 (485 pts) (theoretically, there shouldn't be a tie. Because I'm going to wager more than either of you two can possibly net. If the Falcons win, ole Kevro is buying me a Wentz jersey.
Either way. Should be a helluva time. Kevin, thanks for putting this together bro! Its been fun.
Nate has to pick New England now... Sorry Nate.
Doesn't everyone in the world know it's a terrible idea to pick against the Pats in the playoffs? Much less the Super Bowl? Jordan I appreciate the condolences but I was going to pick the Patriots from the get go. Brady is the 2nd best QB of all time and 'ol Bill is probably the best coach of all time. They have the most underrated running back in the game (and I can't stand him) as well. I wouldn't mind seeing Matty Ice win one but Brady and Bill with a chip on their shoulders? Not a chance.
ReplyDeletePats over Falcons 30-25. I'm all in let it ride baby!!! 484 on Blue!
I'm looking forward to enjoying that Taylor Lewan jersey!
Seriously though, Thanks Kevin it's been a lot of fun as Jordan said.
In a year where the Cubs won the series and Cleveland won the NBA, can't count out first timers
