It's Finally Time

What we have all been waiting for. The Super Bowl, what every fan has been waiting for. Let's face it many non-football fans been waiting for this as well. Either to watch the commercials or to just get football off the television every Sunday. I'm so happy yet sad all at the same time. After this game the only thing to look forward to if you're a football fan is the draft, luckily for me, I have basketball for a few more months.

Let's get into what is imperative. Many people called the Patriots as a favorite to go to the Super Bowl, and many have been all over the place with the NFC. I know myself I called the Seahawks, Cowboys, Giants, and even Packers favorites to go (what was I thinking right). I didn't even reflect on the Falcons in the Super Bowl until the NFC Championship game. Now shockingly I will predict that Atlanta will hang their first banner. Coach Dan Quinn has a defense almost as good as he had when he was D-Coordinator in Seattle. As history will show Defense wins championships, but Atlanta isn't just defense, their O has looked great as well. They appear to be a very balanced squad, and they'll look for Beasley to put pressure on TB12. However, Tom Brady is one of the best in the game EVER, and if anyone can do it, he most certainly can. You know he wants his 5th ring and to put an end to the best QB ever conversation. I can't wait to see who becomes the victors.

* Side note put the score you think it'll be in the case of a tie. You can not choose the same point spread as anyone else. Then put the points you wish to bet in ()

My predictions-
Atlanta 28 over New England 24 (448)

The Best Two Won

After long awaited year we are down to the last two. After a sub-par championship week, the Atlanta Falcons and the New England Patriots showed they are the best in their division, and I can't wait to see how they play for everything.

But...... We aren't talking about the Super Bowl this week. Nope, we look at the Pro Bowl. Many injuries took place, so valuable players won't be showcasing their abilities. One that is a shocking replacement is Andy Dalton. Dalton last year had the best year of his career and probably could've argued that he was an MVP candidate before his injury. Yet, this year has been very lackluster. I think you could have made a case that Blake Bortles could've been just as good of a pick as Dalton this year. Yes, that's how bad Andy has been. That's got to be the biggest surprise I saw with the lineups. I like the Jordan Howard replacement for David Johnson. Since Howard took over, he has looked very impressive on a Bears team that didn't look right.

My All-American team is below, and I'd love to see who you chose.

QB- Matt Ryan
RB- Ezekiel Elliott
WR- Antonio Brown, A.J. Green, Julio Jones
TE- Rob Gronkowski
T- Tyron Smith, Jason Peters
G- Zach Martin, Marshall Yanda
C- Travis Frederick

DE- J.J. Watt, Khalil Mack
DT- Aaron Donald, Ndamukong Suh
OLB- Von Miller, Thomas Davis
MLB- Sean Lee
CB- Patrick Peterson, Richard Sherman
FS- Eric Berry
SS- Kam Chancelor

K- Dan Bailey
P- Marquette King
KR/PR- Tyreke Hill

Championship Week

Sorry for the late submission this week. Had military orders and couldn't get on here sooner.

New England and Pittsburgh. We've heard this tale over and over in the AFC. Steelers could have the best trio in the NFL. Antonio Brown is the best WR in the league, Bell is within the top 3 in the league, and Big Ben could be anywhere in the top 10 in QB's, but with all that being said they are up against the top 3 QB's to ever play the game. It's true Brady didn't have a good game against Houston, but with the bad plays, they still prevailed. I expect a high scoring contest with a close game but in the end, as most people have to predict New England goes back to the Super Bowl.

With Atlanta against Green Bay game, you have an MVP candidate player Matt Ryan. Matty Ice has been playing great all year long. However, he has some struggles, Julio Jones, and Gabriel are dinged up, and I'm unsure how durable they will be in this big game. With Green Bay, they have pushed through with just Aaron Rodgers. They have NO run game, and their top WR is out. With everything going on this match I push towards Atlanta winning this which will be the first time we've seen them in the Super Bowl since the dirty bird.

Predictions
New England over Pittsburgh (120)
Atlanta over Green Bay (120)

No More Bye Week

It's time to see if a BYE week helps or hurts when you're one of the hottest teams in the league.

Seahawks came to play, didn't they, now they'll have to see if they can find similar success against an MVP candidate Matty ICE. Will that week off make Atlanta better or is that Seahawks defense with Russell Wilson too much? These NFC games I think will be the better games and the biggest challenges. Then you have the Patriots facing a Texans team who I'm unsure who's the QB. Houston has the best defense in the game (yes even without JJ Watt), but if they can't put up any points, then they are in trouble.

Dallas has walked through this season with 2 Rookie's leading their offense. Part of me wonders if they wish they'd got that revenge on the Giants, but as it is they will face a red-hot Aaron Rodgers. You think he gave his R-E-L-A-X speech before playing. If not you can't deny Rogers was indeed relaxed, putting up 362 yards and 4 TDs. Green Bay doesn't have a run game, so Dallas is going to look at stopping the passing game and let the young blood do the work. This Steelers-Chiefs matchup will be one to watch. Both cold weather teams, so the weather you'd think won't play a factor. However, Big Ben in a boot very well might. KC defense is going to be a problem as they always have and Smith will control the football smart. This is a game that wouldn't shock me though if it's an upset, though.

My Predictions
Atlanta over Seahawks (5)
Patriots over Texans (100)
Cowboys over Packers (30)
KC over Pitt (15)

New Rules For The Playoffs

Everyone who has participated in the jersey giveaway, much thanks. There aren't enough games for anyone to win the jersey from me, sooooo with that being said I've decided to adjust the rules for the playoffs and Super Bowl.

New Rules are as follows there will be no more Hellacious picks the points you've gained from the regular season you can bid your points per game. You can't go over your amount you have acquired, and you don't have to use all your points. Just know you are wagering them, you guess it right, you get the points added to that you bet. You get it wrong they are deducted. Simple right.

The person at the end of the Super Bowl will indeed get the jersey of their choose ($150 max).

Good luck to everyone.

Wildcard week
We got a good four games this week in the Wildcard week. You can't count out any of these teams out, especially the Giants who are arguably the 2nd best team in the NFC. The Texans and the Raiders would have been a different game before Carr got hurt. The Texans are having a QB issue with Brock not performing as everyone had hoped on the Texans staff, but Savage is under concussion protocol. With the Texans having the top defense all Brock has to do is not turn the ball over. The Lions and the Seahawks are interesting due to how both teams have played as of late. Neither has been overly impressive the past 3 weeks or so. We'll see how that outcome turns out. Dolphins just being in the playoffs is great, Adam Gase has the talent he can work with and a young team to have success for quite some time. With those praises, Pitt could be in the Super Bowl this year. Finally the Giants and Packers game is equally as exciting as the Seattle-Detroit game for the opposite reason. Both teams have looked good over the last few weeks and will be great to see these two go at it.

Race, MVP and Playoffs

With only 1 more regular season week left the MVP race is the most exciting thing going forward. The AFC has a lock on who's in the playoffs, with possible moves on seeding, and the NFC has the Lions, Packers, and Redskins fighting for the last 2 spots to continue their hopes.

AFC
Most likely the Pats will take the #1 seed once again in TB12 hopes of gaining his 5th Super Bowl win. The Raiders with a win over Denver or a KC lost will ensure they will lock down the 2 seed. If they win and NE loses
they could spring in at #1. With David Carr out for the season that seems highly unlikely. Pitt wins, lose or draw will take the 3 seed headed forward, and there is the talk of resting Big Ben (but their final game is against Cle,
so I feel good that if I were their QB they'd still win). The Texans have also clinched the 4 seed moving into the playoffs, but they want to get Tom Savage more snaps leading into the playoffs against the Titans, who by the
way is without Marcus Mariota. The Chiefs currently sitting at 5 could jump up all the way to the 2 seed with a win over San Diego and a Denver win over Oakland (which I believe will now happen). Go back to a few post I said KC is my dark horse, that Defense is incredible. That KC team reminds me of the 2003 Buccaneers. Rounding out the AFC is Miami, and I believe they will lock in the 6th seed because I don't see them beating the Patriots.

NFC
A little more scenarios in the NFC, The Cowboys have clinched the 1 spot, and they are hoping to never leave the state of Texas as they hang their 6th banner. The 2 seed as of now is the Falcons and 3 being Seattle, these two are fighting for a first-round bye and very well could flip flop. Many think it'll be an easy Seahawks win over the 49ers, and the Falcons have a tough division rival against the Saints. The 4 seed will go to the winner of the
Lions and the Packers going into week 17. The Giants have locked down the 5 seed, and the 6th seed comes between the Lions, Packers, and Redskins. Needless to say, the NFC will be more interesting this week than the AFC.

MVP Race
I believe that Tom Brady is in line for the MVP this year. However, the other candidates have put up respectable numbers. Derrick Carr could have made the race for MVP a little more interesting before he suffered a season-ending femur break. Now the others looking at taking that covenant award are Matt Ryan, Dak Prescott, Aaron Rodgers, and Ezekiel Elliott. Now let's compare the numbers.

Only 2 More Weeks Left.

First off Merry Christmas all my Gates of Helton fans. I appreciate everyone who has gotten on here to read each week, and especially thank you for everyone participating. Whether through forwarding, sharing on social media, or just reading and verbally telling your friends I deeply thank you. With that be said it's not the time to stop yet, we still have more football.

The Giants are fighting for a playoff spot with just 1 more win they'll get in, and with the way Philly has been playing as of late, I truly think the Giants will get in after this Thursday. On the AFC side with the Chiefs losing and the Raiders winning Oakland takes that 2nd spot back over. If they aren't careful though Kansas City owns the tiebreaker. Regardless I believe they both teams make the playoffs

In other Wildcard spot, Miami is trying to lock down that Wildcard slot. Even though I think they'll win this week in Buffalo, it really depends on what happens the next week in New England. Baltimore, Tennessee, and Denver are on the heels fighting for that last spot as well. On the NFC side with the Bay teams tied records (Tampa and Green) it'll be a battle to see which pull it off at the end. Both should win this week, so it's really up to what happens next week.

Side note won't it be crazy if both Denver and Carolina fail to make the playoffs.

My Predictions-

Giants over Philadelphia
Miami over Buffalo
New England over Jets (H)
Tennessee over Jacksonville
Green Bay over Minnesota
Chargers over Browns
Washington over Chicago
Atlanta over Carolina
Oakland over Indy
Seattle over Arizona
Tampa over New Orleans
LA over San Fran
Houston over Cincy
Pitts over Baltimore
Kansas City over Denver
Dallas over Detroit
